Tea Party

My little "girly girl", Sabree, is all about hosting a tea party. We frequently get an invitation to meet in the dining room with our Sunday best attire and attend a tea party fit for a king.
So, recently, we decided to invite some of her friends over for the royal occassion.

It was smashing success.

Thankful hearts

Last week I was watching the 700 club and there was a man from South America who was raising 6 kids in a home that looked like it was made from cardboard boxes. As he was walking the 5 mile daily commute for water, he sang praises to God in the loudest voice he had. He carried water for the widows and he sang. He didn't have shoes on his feet and he had blisters on his hands, but still he sang. His wife was ill and he cared for the kids alone, yet he sang.

The 700 club went down and built him a house that was about the size of two sheds from Lowe's, but without a floor and when he got home and saw it, he fell to the ground weeping and singing praises to the Lord. Then he looked into the camera and he said, "I serve the greatest God. Who am I that he would give me such a mansion?"

What a lesson we can learn from him about thankfulness.
Philippians 2:14--Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation.

Tim Hawkins on Parenting

Izzy and Snow White

We are in full-on adoption mode here in the Bunn household and since we haven't been able to adopt our children yet, we are testing it out on the wildlife. We have adopted 2 more ducks, Izzy and Snow White, the Peking ducks in the picture below and 8 Canada geese. Five of the geese are supposed to fly away this winter, but the other 3 have lame wings and will be permanent residents.
Mark is not so crazy about the geese, and after avoiding their "landmines" with every step we take in the front yard, I am in full agreement. Three won't be so bad, but 8--put on some boots!

One morning we woke up to find 37 Canada geese on the pond. I wish I had taken a picture, it was an amazing site. We are also incubating 5 eggs from the Peking ducks and praying that we haven't killed them. It's not an easy job, but we are excited to see if we will have ducklings soon. Pekings are beautiful ducks, but not know for being good broodies, they could care less about their eggs--they have far too much to worry about, what with preening, eating, and showing off for the Mallards, who has time to care for eggs?
There for a while, they were laying an egg a day, so I decided--waste not, want not--let's see if they taste like chicken eggs. How many of you just said "EWWW"? Me too! I didn't tell anyone that they were eating duck eggs, but nobody could tell the difference--except me because I knew what was going down my throat. One bite was all I could muster, but I think if I didn't have a mental block to duck eggs, I would not have known the difference either.
Anyway, after everyone found out, I was threatened within an inch of my life not to ever cook duck eggs again. I promised, but still, nobody wants to eat my eggs anymore--strange.

Support Seviann

My daughter has started another blog, www.teensintopurity.blogspot.com , to encourage herself and her friends to live the life that God has called them to live. It is a tough world for these teenagers growing up today and it takes a lot of strength, courage, encouragement, and prayer to stand up for what is right. And even then, it is difficult.
It is even harder to stand up for what is right and not judge your neighbor. It is easy to either follow the path that everyone else is traveling or follow the path of legalism. There is safety in those paths because they are plainly and clearly laid out for us. But, those paths are not pleasing to God. But, to follow the path of humility and righteousness is not easy and can only be seen through faith. To stand up for what is pleasing to God and extend the grace that God has commanded of us is a constant internal battle. It is also the path less followed and can be lonely at times, and this is why our daughters and sons need to join together and support each other on this path. When one comes to a bump in the road, it helps to have a friend to hold your hand and help you keep your balance. We should all be doing this for each other with gentleness and encouragement.

To help encourage her, I ask that if you go to her blog that you leave a comment and tell your daughters and sons that if they have a topic on biblical purity to share, they can email it to her and she will post it for them. It can be anonymous if they like. Her email is leeparkgals@hotmail.com. Let's help this generation make a difference in the world for God. Let's help them have a voice for God.

The Great Rescue

Mark has always professed to hate cats, until Ms. Channel entered our lives. It is so funny to watch a cat, they are very entertaining. So, when she climbed the tree in our front yard and couldn't get down--Daddy came to the rescue and braved the 100 ft. climb to get his little baby out of the tree.

My Soldier

My little soldier has worn this "real" army jacket, shorts, and hat from his Uncle Terry for 4 days now. Now he looks and smells like he's been on the battlefield.

Freckles

This is Freckles. He is a Pekin that we rescued along with his two ladies from the wildlife rescue, but unfortunately for poor Freckles the two male Mallards on the pond took a shine to his ladies and decided to claim them as their own. After two weeks of trying to defend himself with only half a beak against the malicious Mallards, we decided to give the poor fella a break and take him back to the rescue to find a new mate.
Isn't he a beauty? He came to us with his head held high, the mac daddy with not one but two ladies, and left with his tail tucked between his legs and nobody by his side.
